How can we support our Volunteer Firefighters

EQUIPMENT

Given the Western Cape’s climate and the frequent veld fires, there’s a constant and high demand for equipment fighting fires in rough terrain. The need for rugged terrain vehicles and “bakkie sakkies”.

ONGOING NEED FOR PPE

There is never enough PPE. This is in high demand to ensure the volunteer’s safety and compliance with standards.

TRAINED VOLUNTEERS

The existence and active recruitment by organisations like OWV and VWS underscore the critical role volunteers play in augmenting the professional firefighting force, especially during peak fire seasons. There is a continuous need for more trained hands on deck.

BASIC NEEDS

The emphasis on food, water, and other staples throughout the year, but also specifc items during peak season, including things like high-protein energy bars and eye drops.
