Moonflower Upliftment Project

Help us spread light where there is darkness

About Our Foundation

Fostering Economic Independence

The challenges of unemployment and poverty are intertwined, but we believe the solutions are too. The Helium Foundation is a registered Non-Profit Company (NPC) founded on a powerful vision: to create a community where economic opportunity and environmental responsibility move hand-in-hand. Our mission goes beyond simple charity; it is about building sustainable cycles of empowerment, employment, and eco-consciousness right here in our community. We don’t just provide aid; we invest in transformation, we aim to upskill women in the community.

Our commitment to a brighter future is realised through our flagship initiative: The Moonflower Upliftment Project. This project is more than a skills training program; it is a holistic model for community development that addresses chronic unemployment and local waste management issues simultaneously. By focusing on practical, marketable skills and embedding a philosophy of sustainability, the Moonflower Project is igniting change one candle at a time. It is a beacon of hope and a working model for self-sufficiency, designed to be replicated and scaled, ensuring its impact extends far beyond our current reach.

Moonflowers, known for their nocturnal blooming, symbolise mystery, magic and new beginnings. Their ability to bloom in the dark also represents resilience, hope, and the potential for beauty to emerge in challenging circumstances

The Moonflower Upliftment Project: Four Pillars of Hope

The Moonflower Upliftment Project is our powerful model for creating a closed loop of economic, social, and environmental change. We turn vulnerability into victory and waste into worth.

1. Skills Development: Handing Over the Future

We give unemployed women and youth the tools for independence through intensive, hands-on Skills Development. Our training focuses on the artisan craft of candle and fire starter production. Participants master technical and entrepreneurial skills, graduating as certified artisans ready for stable employment or to launch their own micro-enterprise.

2. Sustainable Practices: Giving Waste a Second Life

Our commitment to Environmental Sustainability is in every product. We actively tackle local waste challenges by seeing “trash” differently. Every item is made by repurposing discarded wax sponsored by our amazing partners from KITA and Eco Furniture Design. This process rescues waste from landfills while creating beautiful, ethical products and dignified work.

3. Job Creation: Sustaining the Cycle

The Moonflower Project is self-sustaining. Every cent of profit from product sales is reinvested directly to guarantee stable employment for the individuals we train. Trainees transition seamlessly into paid staff, becoming role models and contributors. This model creates long-term income and reduces dependency on outside funding.

4. Community Upliftment: A Ripple Effect of Dignity

When our team members secure stable jobs, the entire community benefits. Stable income leads to improved livelihoods, reduced poverty, and better opportunities for children. By fostering self-worth and entrepreneurship, we are building a resilient, self-sufficient community. Your support is an investment in this lasting change.
